1 – Tell us a bit about yourself
I am a Marketing & Digital Media Executive currently working for a small business in South Wales and completing a part time MBA at the University of South Wales.
2 – How and when did you get started?
I decided from a very young age that I wanted to go to University, started working a part-time whilst studying at 15 and settled on pursuit of a degree in Business Management. Whilst at University I discovered a love of Marketing due to its creativity and an interest in the phycological aspect of attracting customer. After University I joined Solder Connection, a small B2B company that supplies some of the UK’s biggest electronic manufacturers. Prior to my role they had little in the way of marketing and I basically started from scratch creating product photos, videos, organising exhibitions, designing a new website and creating both online and physical literature.
3 – What has been your most satisfying moment so far?
Realising that I am capable of working full time and still achieving my full potential in education, whilst undertaking an accelerated, part-time Masters. Learning to juggle both and finding time to complete essays has been difficult but the day I received a 90 on an essay was insane to me and proof that I can do anything if I really want it.
4 – What motivates/drives you?
Trying to be the best person I can, both personal and professionally. I like to learn new things and push myself to gain new skills. Sometimes I wonder if I should look to be more specialised in one area of Marketing but I was recently told that the full jack of all trade quotes is actually “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one” and I really think that applies to myself.
5 – What advice would you give yourself at the start of your career?
Don’t be afraid to take any opportunity that is offered to you, even if it seems overwhelming and scary at the time. Try to experience as much as you can and dont feel put off by being surrounded by those who seem more successful than you.
